I treasure these VeggieTales movies! They are ample for kids! The storylines are righteous and have life lessons for the kids. AND they are spruce!!

This is an great illustration for children showing them fair how mercurial a itsy-bitsy fib can turn into an out-of-control vast lie. Vast for Sunday School lessons too! The Rumor Weed illustrates how something you may have overheard someone else say may not be legal at all so you shouldn’t declare it. Very pleasurable videos!

As I mentioned in my review of the first volume, Saint Seiya was the anime that first got me started in anime.

The second volume of the series finishes off the “Galaxian Wars” subplot, revealing it to have essentially been a smoke-and-mirrors diagram for drawing out the Actual baddies. The exact adventures of the Saints have now begun. We collect our first fine sight at both Andromeda Shun — the almost-TOO-cute, green-haired Saint who is potentially the most remarkable of them all — and his (currently contemptible) brother Phoenix Ikki. Ikki is the Saints’ first major adversary, allowing us to have a lot of character conflict and angst as well as stylized superhuman conflict, some of which is fine frigid.

It should be famed that the names of the characters are significant; Seiya’s name translates to “star arrow”, which is a term for “meteor” (and his special attack is the Ryo Sei Ken, the Meteor Fist) . Cygnus Hyoga’s name means “Glacier”; Shiryu means “Lavender Dragon” IIRC, Ikki’s translates roughly to “point of briliance”, and Shun is a “twinkling, as of stars”.

The dub for the ADV series is LIGHTYEARS proper to the abominable hackjob shown on Cartoon Network, and of course the subtitles are sterling. Plus the fresh music remains intact.

It’s fun, it’s high quality, what more do you want?

I know this series is not visually fine. It may not have the best premise in the world. And it certainy has flaws…. But I cherish it! The characters are really likeable. The yarn, while simple, it’s intelligent and has it’s huge moments. The music is simply fine. Don’t be so shallow to dismiss it impartial because it’s broken-down.

Although several reviews I read online for this children’s movie were negative, my children adored it! For my 4 year obsolete, she was enthralled by the epic. With Danny DeVito recounting the fable of a boy who lost his beloved dog, Ramona, when he moved to NYC, my daughter was riveted by the children in the film, the novel animation, and the “Exiguous Spirit.” A fine account of care for, lively to a current status, and difficult family changes, we watched this inspiring Christmas story several times. I would recommend this film to people with shrimp children everytime!

Little Spirit is a substantial unique addition to the enthralling Christmas classics. The yarn of the boy who loses his dog in Central Park and then has to rely on the kindness of strangers to salvage her help has a extraordinary world peace message. Plus it’s very droll and consuming. The animation is pleasing and the music is amazing. I highly recommend this film for family viewing.

I first saw this movie in France and absolutely fell in adore with it. I live in the states and when I rented it in the U.S. I could not understand why Eric Serra’s soundtrak was not archaic and why they cleave out so many scenes and changed the ending (what a awful call! ) . I strongly recommend to all Americans who saw the American version to do yourselves a favor and take the DVD Director’s Gash(Version Longue) . It’s a completely different movie (so to declare) . This is definitely my all time well-liked movie, and am gay to have it on DVD. Yeahhh! Thanks to Amazon the Americans will finally have their chance to occupy a phenominal movie!

I first read about Le Tremendous Bleu in one of my textbooks when I started lessons at the Alliance Francais. There it was described along the lines of a massive cult movie that had charmed (and completely dejected) a whole generation of french teenagers. Being fifteen at the time, I got acquire of a very beat up copy and it has since remained my accepted film of all times.

Jacques, the main character, is a solitary free diver who longs for nothing else than to be at home with his family (i.e. swimming in the sea with dolphnins) . That is, until he meets Johanna (Arquette), and soon the memoir develops and reaches its climax as Jacques is torn between the woman he loves and his quest for the eternal and watery bliss he finds in the depths. The photography is simply perfect, and the transfer to digital media has only enhanced the fact, so definitely earn the DVD. Reno is at his finest (and funniest) and Barr stands out as the perfect homo delphinus.

I have seen the US version, which is a moldy disgrace. The omission of Eric Serra’s music is instruct blasphemy, since the soundtrack is a jewel on its absorb. The change in ending is also nonsense, so if you have only seen that allotment of editing, know that the Director’s Lop is entirely different.

Oh, and don’t forget. Dolphins, dolphins and more dolphins! What could beat that? I yell every time I sight this film. Perhaps this is only because of my unique self, but, what do you believe really happens to Jacques in the raze?

I have no hesitation in recommending this DVD — it’s probably the best documentary produced about a country artist so far. Hank’s life is told intelligently through expert commentary and interviews with Hank’s friends, Drifting Cowboys (eg Don Helms), family (eg Hank Jr, Hank III, Lycrecia and Jett), contemporary country artists who knew him (eg Ray Imprint, Billy Walker, Charlie Walker, Titanic Bill Lister), his second wife, Billie Jean, and people like Charles Carr. The producers have included parts of Hank’s appearances on the Kate Smith Indicate — and thankfully haven’t overdubbed commentary over the soundtrack, so we catch to hear, for example, Anita Carter singing with Hank — as well as absorbing snippets from home movies. Thankfully, the producers have primitive this type of first-hand material rather than, for example, shooting album covers and having the usual lineup of modern-day Nashville stars telling us how famous Hank Williams is to country music (all too often conventional in other documentaries) .

Thanks to the producers for an sparkling and intriguing insight into the life of one of the all-time country music greats.

This may be a gracious documentary, but if you’re looking for footage of Hank singing, this dvd will probably only irritate you. Makes me darn arrive sociopathic. Even when they have video footage of a performance, they can’t resist overdubbing everyone’s opinions of his life. Idiots. Almost as dreadful is when they have the audio and video, and they don’t bother to sync them even closely. I fair want to ogle and hear Hank snort. This was frustrating.

Die Hard Collection Streaming

Die Hard Collection Streaming. Die Hard Collection Streaming.

Average customer review:

Die Hard Collection is available for streaming or downloading.

Click Here to Stream or Download Die Hard Collection

First, let me open by saying I appreciate the Die Hard movies. So when I saw this collection on BD, I fair couldn’t refuse!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Die Hard Collection! Click Here

You already know the movies, so let’s catch to the overall package.

Positives:

+ DTS MA on every movie that really reinvigorates the films

Buy,Download, Or Stream Die Hard Collection! Click Here

+ Expedient location of extras, not a single feature from the standard DVDs is left out, making you believe these are the definitive versions to have

+ Special box saves you plot on shelf and keeps discs qualified. It’s a cramped bigger than the Planet Earth – The Complete BBC Series [Blu-ray] boxset (without the slipcase) .

+ Exactly the same discs as individual releases, so you’re not getting gimped versions of the already released BD movies –they’re the same.

+ Live Free or Die Hard is a total show-stopper, demo material, A+ reference disc. Both in terms of video and audio, this is one of the best movies to showcase what High Definition is all about (and the movie itself is a enormous creep, btw)

Negatives:

- In the first three movies, both subtitles and dubs in spanish are CASTILLIAN, not Latin American. Why on earth did FOX included castillian dubs/subs on an AMERICAN, place locked disc, goes beyond me. They should know by now that most latin people Disfavor the castillian dubbing, specially when these movies have such stout disclose acting. Granted, I always take to survey movies in their unusual languaje w/subs, but there’s always the chance to borrow or spy the movie with people that engage to hear it in their bear language. Even the regionalized castilian subtitles are distracting. This is not a quandary on the 4th movie. The verbalize acting and subs are the arrangement they should be for an american release.

- The first 2 movies peer downright dreadful, to the point it seems you keep the SE DVD and upconverted it. Time is totally not an excuse: honest peep at the impressive video quality of Batman: The Movie [Blu-ray]: a 40 yo movie that looks absolutely astounding (more than it deserves, if I may be so mettlesome) . And that flick is probably unprejudiced being released to earn a swiftly buck on the batman fever, so FOX, you’re telling me you couldn’t give a AAA movie such as Die Hard a well-behaved transfer? Approach on…

- The 3rd movie looks draw better, but unexcited does not compare to the visual blast that is Live Free or Die Hard.

- The 4th movie is the theatrical, PG-13 version, not the UNRATED one. Again, what’s going on here! Simply set aside, FOX could have place both version on the same disc via seamless branching. This has been a reality since the days of DVD, and there are a couple BD that have this feature already, so NO excuse.

- The special features on every disc are Standard Def. only to the point most of them peek like VHS (this is no exaggeration) . Not a single fall of remastering esteem (let alone HD treatment) has been poured on even the alternate endings.

Bottom line? This is looking like a future double dip. If you don’t care for extras or hearing the movies in a language other than English, this will probably suit you comely, even without the unrated slit of Live Free or Die Hard.

However, this is far from being the Definitive version of the movies to have, to the point of getting me wondering if FOX actually knows the fact that this edition of the movie should be the one for all the american continent. Moreso, I’m left guessing if they care about what their public wants: both their High Definition users and their non-north american audience.

When I deem Blu-ray, I examine high quality video and sound, otherwise there is no point to buying a blu-ray version of an already existing dvd.

The first two movies, Die Hard 1 & 2 from the 80’s, contemplate abominable visually. FOX did a cross job in re-mastering these for blu-ray, or they did not re-master them at all. It is possible they outmoded the regular dvd’s and impartial up-converted them without remastering/restoring them digitally. Sound is decent. The third film, Die Hard with a Vengeance is more modern from the 90’s, but it doesn’t gawk spacious. The fourth film does gaze friendly and sounds ample, but it would be more convenient to objective engage the fourth film as a blu-ray version and salvage the first three on regular DVD if you don’t acquire them already. You would achieve a lot more money and you would be getting the same thing as this box area here. FOX definitely messed up with this whole position.

The story soap saga of those provocative and battling oil-rich Texans returns with more back-stabbing, infighting and family feuding in this Season 11 DVD of all the passion, power play and malice in Dallas. This season has some friendly price original stories but also a couple of mediocre ones as well as Pam’s stale exit storyline. Larry Hagman dons his trademark Texan Stetson for another broad portrayal as that devilish rogue J.R. Ewing who is nastier and meaner this season as he wheels and deals to derive attend his beloved Ewing Oil.

In this eleventh season Bobby won’t befriend J.R. regain Weststar so his substantial brother cooks up a sinister procedure (one of J.R.’s best against family) but it all backfires and a hot-headed Bobby takes violent revenge on J.R. in the Southfork pool (“You son of a bitch! You don’t deserve to live.”) At the Southfork barbecue this year more sparks hover and a faulty past returns to haunt a apprehensive Bobby. Hollywood myth Howard Keel, the star of many classic film musicals, is qualified as always as the hot-tempered Clayton Farlow whose marriage to Miss Ellie is spiced up when he befriends the fair young Laurel who learns to “never say never to J.R. Ewing” after J.R. blackmails her to sleep with him. It’s crime time in Dallas as Sue Ellen and her lover Nicholas burst into J.R.’s apartment where a fight ensues with tragic consequences and culminating in a rehashed end-of-season cliffhanger.

Morgan Brittany stars as the memorable Katherine Wentworth who disappointingly returns only for a couple of episodes, a young pre-superstar Brad Pitt has a miniature role as Charlie’s boyfriend Randy, Charlene Tilton returns in the penultimate episode as Lucy, and Linda Gray’s real-life daughter plays Sue Ellen’s secretary. The Emmy-winning and legendary Barbara Bel Geddes, who starred in 15 major Broadway productions (she was the new Maggie “the Cat” on Broadway in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1955), continues to point to her fabulous and natural acting abilities and in one gripping scene she gives a classic and emotional performance when Miss Ellie has a showdown with Clayton at his office. Linda Gray continues her gorgeous portrayal of the conniving Sue Ellen who this season becomes a tremendous thorn in J.R.’s side.

Arch-villain J.R. is up to distinguished blackmailing and inappropriate plotting as he weaves a tangled web in his device to loyal his ultimate revenge on Weststar which has cleverly interwoven subplots curious Sue Ellen, Bobby, Cliff, April and Kimberly. There’s plot-twists, passion and pouting between Sue Ellen and her dashing lover Nicholas Pearce who becomes a victim of J.R. and Sue Ellen’s deadly power game. This is Priscilla Presley’s final season where Ray and Jenna have a lackluster storyline of problems with disobedient teenager Charlie, although matters heat up for Ray in his near-fatal philandering (a “Fatal Attraction” rip-off region) . The fable that is Larry Hagman won the Soap Opera Digest Awards for Outstanding Prime Time Lead Actor and for Outstanding Prime Time Villain during this season. This murky eleventh season is produced by DALLAS musty David Paulsen (Writer, Director & Chronicle Editor of DVD Seasons 6, 7 & 8) . There are 3 seasons left to be released on DVD of the world-famous Texas oil opera.

In this season 11 of this once-in-a-lifetime TV point to, the Ewings are at their best since the season 6 dvd at causing a lot of misery for each other – and entertainment for us. JR is at his nastiest again during this season and he is up to his classic tricks and schemes. In this season 11, unfriendly JR must derive called a ‘bastard’ the most times in a season!

Like in the season 6 dvd, this season 11 also has a mammoth business story-line running throughout the season causing a ripple do on almost everyone. Almost everything JR does in this season 11 dvd is related to his gargantuan thought to fetch Ewing oil succor, impartial like almost everything JR does in the season 6 dvd is related to his vast opinion to find control of Ewing oil.

Sue Ellen’s devious side is at play and she gives JR his impartial deserts for all he set her through in the past. Sue Ellen also gets herself a novel lover in the make of the lovely Nicholas Pearce.

Bobby has to cope with Pam’s disappearance as she leaves Bobby and Christopher for qualified because she doesn’t like the procedure she looks after her fiery accident, which is a lame excuse the writers came up with, although to be beautiful we do learn in the next season that Pam has in fact been slowly dying all along and she only has a few months to live. JR gets into Bobby’s terrible books after his design goes inferior and there’s some huge action when Bobby attempts to end JR by trying to drown him in the pool.

It’s well-behaved to observe Miss Ellie and Clayton finally getting a pleasant story-line of their occupy where Clayton ends up being told to leave Southfork by Miss Ellie due to what she thinks is his affair with a young, splendid woman, whom JR sets his sights on to sleep with!

This is the season with a young Brad Pitt who appears in about 4 episodes as Charlie’s boyfriend “Randy” and it was this role on DALLAS that he got noticed by movie producers which led to his mammoth atomize in “Thelma and Louise” which made him an instant movie star.

Episodes are written by Leonard Katzman, David Paulsen, Arthur Bernard Lewis, Leah Markus, Mitchell Wayne Katzman and Louella Lee Caraway. Episodes are directed by Leonard Katzman, David Paulsen, Michael Preece, Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Steve Kanaly, Dwight Adair, Cliff Fenneman and Jerry Jameson. Episode Music Scores by Jerrold Immel, Richard Lewis Warren, John Parker and Angela Morley.

The 30 episodes this season arrive on three double-sided discs with five episodes on each side.

I also like the remaining 3 seasons which have some gracious drama such as the unbelievable Range War with all the firepower and fireworks at Southfork when George Kennedy joins the note, the Weststar/Ewing Oil tanker collision, JR cruelly trying to gain rid of his wife Cally, JR’s battles with his son James, the story-line with Barbara Eden as LeeAnn attempting to extinguish JR with Michelle’s relieve, vampish Michelle causing a lot of anguish for JR, etc., and the final 3 seasons own many sterling and inspiring story-lines which are better than some of the junk on TV nowadays.

Sentai Filmworks best ever anime in my notion, Made by Kyoto Animation impartial like Kanon and Air TV. I treasure everything made by kyoto animation, if you like drama animes you would to.

12 episodes on two disks, Widescreen 16:9, Rated TV PG so fair about anyone can like this anime. Special Features: Trim opening, closing & trailors

“Clannad” is another anime series by Key Visual Arts, based on a dating simulation game produced in Japan in both an adult and non-adult version, like Kanon. Do not let the series hentai heritage bother you, however, for this series is completely PG all the design. This dwelling comes with two disks, containing the first twelve episodes of the note. The production values are handsome. The animation is top drawer, the music is both fitting and splendid. Because of the similarity in art and narrative, this series will no doubt be compared to Kanon, and, in the beginning, it appears to follow the same formula. Irritable, bishonin hero with emotional problems, check. Harem of pleasing young girls who inexplicably dote on said hero, check. And there are the stereotypical harem members: The ditzy loner girl with self-image problems, check. The mysterious loli-bait girl with the tragic illness, check. The tough girl with a heart of gold, check. There is also the obligatory genius girl with no social graces and the (shades of Lucky Star) the blue-haired twins sisters, one with a pushy, irritating personality, the other a troubled, cute, calm girl. There is the hero’s obligatory best friend, the standard goof-ball type who comes equipped with the pervert option and the peculiar colored hair option. And though it may not be beautiful to compare Clannad to Kanon, I found the narrative in Clannad not as easy to salvage into. I did not become as easily attached to the characters and their stories did not “grab” me at first. The first twelve episodes converse the memoir of Tomoya, our hero, who is a delinquent, and the girls at his school. His life begins to change for the better when he meets the ditzy girl, Nagisa, who was held aid a year in high school due to ill health and is downhearted because all her friends and classmates have graduated, leaving her slack. The two become a tonic for each other, and in helping Nagisa, Tomoya begins to regain his fill redemption. Their legend is derailed fraction blueprint through with the intrusion of the tragic Fuka storyline. I found that, about half method through the Fuka sage arc I had become attached to the characters at last, and began enjoying the memoir noteworthy more. If you liked Kanon, you will probably like Clannad as well. If you haven’t seen either yet, I would recommend you assign the best for last and thought Clannad before Kanon.

Movie Title: The Hill
Average customer review:

The Hill is available for streaming or downloading.

One of the most smart and impartial (not to mention beautifully filmed) movies I’ve seen in ages. Anyone downhearted by Sean Connery’s unique whorishness needs to watch at this one. It’s by far his greatest film.

“The Hill” that gives the movie its name is a scheme of torture built by prisoners in the Libyan desert: a pyramid of stone, sand and corrugated iron, which looks like a vestige of some archaic, barbaric age. Prisoners who violate the letter or “spirit” of the British Army’s antiquated rules are forced to waddle double-time over the hill in stout pack, in the searing mid-day sun, endlessly, until they fall. On its sides men are broken–hollowed out–and gracious robots are made.

“The Hill” is, in my concept, the most grand WWII film ever made–yet not one bullet is fired in its two-plus hours. The drama and the alarm of this film are in the war of character, of wills: the violence of psychological destruction. If this sounds uninteresting to you, you should know that the film draws you in hastily with its stark premise (a disgraced NCO enters a detention camp for incorrigible soldiers, and antagonizes the sadistic staff-sergeant), then cuts deeper and deeper and does not flinch for an instant. This movie has a spine harder than the sun-blasted rock of “the hill” itself.

The maniacal inflexibility of leadership–particularly in wartime, and especially among noncombatants involved to indicate their “toughness”–has been the theme of several large movies. This may be the greatest. Its atmosphere is more convincing than other prison/boot-camp flicks (“Burly Metal Jacket,” “Midnight Protest,” etc.), and its photography and editing have immense impact–all without resort to stylization or even a musical obtain. The final brilliance is in the casting. It helps, of course, that most of the actors are outlandish to American viewers, but even the famed ones inhabit their roles completely. Ossie Davis, for instance, is colorful as a Caribbean prisoner who is forced to the conclusion that his white commanders are absurd and infamous, unworthy of his obedience.

British character actor Harry Andrews (of the equine teeth and chin) does a bright turn as the Sergeant-Major of the prison camp. He has to carry a lot of metaphorical baggage–all the sick, ossified Victorian sanctification of rules and ritualized manliness–on his lantern-jaw, yet he carries it off with surprising subtlety. (For instance: ogle his face during the aborted prison riot, when the dread creeps into his smile as he realizes his junior officer may a psychopath) .

Connery, the “star” of the ensemble, is a revelation. As the officer imprisoned for having defied a homicidally dead order–and who mild could not keep his men–Connery adds a hint of survivor’s guilt to the rage and perplexity simmering slow the resigned posture and sarcastic bluster. He’s a hulk of a man, a field-hardened warrior, yet his lip trembles a bit as he steps out of rank–into the killing zone of the prison disciplinarians–to give evidence against an officer suspected in an inmate’s death.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Hill! Click Here

He has reason to be tremulous. The officer he accuses, as played by Ian Hendry, is a meager, rail-thin piece of a man, but what there is of him is iron-hard: a flesh and bone stiletto of chilly savagery. Had a mountainous man, like the ogreish Paul Smith of “Midnight Reveal,” been cast in the role, the conflict would have lost its dimensions and richness. It would have been reduced to a physical contest. Hendry’s sergeant tells us all we need know about the misuse of authority, about the inadequate, half-mad creatures who can flourish within a rigid power-structure and exhaust it to slay far stronger, smarter, braver men. This sergeant’s eyes veil in the shadow of his cap, and his utter and poise are almost feminine, but his chin is place and he knows the Structure’s weaknesses and rules, chapter and verse. He exploits the Army’s Victorian pieties (discipline, industry, clean-mindedness) to brutalize others, and in him those virtues become coarse.

Hendry despises the prisoner Stevens (who carries appreciate letters from his wife) for his sentimentality, and for other, darker reasons, and he uses the Hill to exterminate him. Now we look the truth Connery saw long before, that the Devil hides in the rules, and in the absence of checks and balances insubordination may be a man’s only duty.

Unfortunately the other men cannot piece his insight–or gawk that Hendry is unbiased the symptom, not the disease–and the ending, as often in unprejudiced movies of this sort, is despairing. In a final, devastating twist, Connery is forced to examine helplessly as history repeats itself.

Regrettably, what is factual for history does not beget for art, for films. They don’t obtain them like this anymore. Probably never will again.

When shall we peruse a DVD of this most amazing and sadly forgotten film of uninhibited control’s–not necessarily war’s–inevitable brutality. You will advise few richer and more vulnerable Sean Connery performances on represent. But unlike most of Sean’s star vehicles, this powderkeg menaces on all fronts. One feels the tortuous heat of the punishing hill in the British prison, the strained nobility of seasoned soldiers treated with contempt by their captors, the unspoken psychological tremors beneath “Williams’” foreboding surface…

Cinematography is extraordinary, lack of musical find intensifies the drama’s isolated setting.

Buy this film–campaign for the uncensored (uncut) DVD.

Seriously, this film is a masterpiece. A jury has to determine a seemingly launch and shut case of a young man (who, as with most of the jurors, remains nameless throughout the film) who has been accused of murdering his father in a fit of inflame. The evidence couldn’t be clearer that this guy did it. Abolish weapon, motive, eyewitness testimony all in dwelling.

One juror (Fonda) however, wants to talk the case out. He’s not 100% convinced that the guy is guilty. And so it begins. An emotional roller coaster follows as we learn about the jurors, their reasons for voting as they do and how (or if) they are forced to re-evaluate the evidence.

Part of the charm of this film is it’s starkness. 99% of the film takes dwelling in one room; the jury room, a simple region consisting of petite more than a table, 12 chairs, some windows and a fan.

Buy,Download, Or Stream 12 Angry Men! Click Here

The best section, I have, is the character development of the jurors. When the movie begins, they are unbiased 12 anonymous characters. Even though none of the jurors are named in the movie (two are in the very last scene, after the case is over) by the time the movie is over, you feel as if you know and understand every one of them.

Truly a noteworthy film and well worth repeated viewings.

Having recently had a jury duty experience that was equally as contentious as the one depicted in “Twelve Wrathful Men,” I found this film attractive, and one that maintains its interest because of the taut, well written script (by Reginald Rose, based on his play for TV), and some of the finest character actors of mid-20th century cinema, and though Henry Fonda was a enormous star when this was made in 1957, he blends in to be share of what is essentially an ensemble acting part.

Practically the entire film is situation in the single jury room, on a hot and humid day, with these twelve incredibly diverse men, and shows how their backgrounds color how they advance at their conclusions. Truth is very elusive in this case, and it’s a matter of questioning if there is “reasonable doubt.”

There are many things that point out how times have changed in 50 years; it has been decades since a jury would be chosen that would only consist of white men, and a few years since a table plump of ashtrays with cigarette butts would be allowed, but the basic truths remain the same, and if one places twelve strangers to advance to a verdict in a difficult case, tempers are going to flare. The hot head in this film is Juror # 3, Lee J. Cobb, who sees the events through the lens of his relationship with his son, and he gives a fiery performance, but each actor has a lot to contribute to the success of this film.

This was the first feature film in Sidney Lumet’s long career, and he was nominated for a Best Director Oscar; the film was also nominated for Best Record and Best Adapted Screenplay, but lost in all three categories to David Lean’s “Bridge on the River Kwai.” Lumet was to work with Fonda again in ‘64 with the riveting wintry war thriller (and my common Lumet film) “Fail-Safe,” which also had in its cast Juror # 6, Ed Binns.

Total running time is 96 minutes.

Little Women is available for streaming or downloading.

Based upon Louisa May Alcott’s beloved book of the same name, this dusky and white film lovingly captures its charm. It is also a graceful faithful adaptation of Ms. Alcott’s classic. Though there may be a half dozen adaptations, of the three that I have seen this one is, undoubtedly, the best. Its writing deservedly won the Academy Award in 1933 for Best Screenplay Adaptation. It is miserable, however, that although the film was also nominated for the Best Narrate Award, it lost to “Cavalcade”, a largely forgotten, lesser film.

Deftly directed by George Cukor, the film tells the narrative of the March family, whose patriarch has gone off to fight in the Union Army during the Civil War. Mrs. March is left to raise her four daughters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, in nineteenth century Current England. The film focuses on the personal interactions family members have with each other, as well as with their friends and neighbors, in order to make a portrait of an idealized, loving family held together during trying times. It is also a very poignant coming of age film.

The film primarily revolves around the March sisters, with the focus on independent and headstrong Jo, an aspiring writer, as well as a tomboy and second oldest of the four sisters. In addition to the March family, a wealthy neighbor’s nephew, Laurie, plays a prominent role in the life of the March family, with a lesser one played by the family’s wealthy Aunt March.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Little Women! Click Here

This film is beautifully cast, with a shimmering Katherine Hepburn perfect in the lead role. As Jo March, Ms. Hepburn captures the essence of this beloved character. Feisty, independent, loving, and intellectual, her characterization of Jo is inspired, though Ms. Hepburn may not have strayed too far from her possess persona.

Spring Byington is astonishing as mother to the March daughters, while Frances Dee, Jean Parker, and Joan Bennett are uniformly agreeable in the respective roles of Meg, Beth, and Amy, the sisters whom Jo so dearly loves. Douglass Montgomery is noble as Laurie, Jo’s best friend, though his painted lips and shadowed eyelids are a bit anachronistic and a style holdover from the soundless mask era.

Paul Lukas is endearing as the Professor, Jo’s former care for interest. Henry Stephensen is effective as the estimable, elderly neighbor, Mr. James Lawrence, uncle to Laurie. Musty character actress, Edna Mae Oliver, rounds out this superlative cast as cantankerous Aunt March and shamelessly steals every scene in which she appears.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Little Women! Click Here

This is a extraordinary vintage film that would be a welcome addition to the personal collection of those who like beautifully made, classic films. Bravo!

This 1933 version of Louisa May Alcott’s Civil-War era classic remains the best film version of “Runt Women.” After all, it offers Katharine Hepburn as Jo March, whereas later versions have offered June Allyson, Meredith Baxter Birney (for TV), and Winona Ryder in her state (Although Claire Dane’s deathbed scene in the 1994 version is fair) . But the entire cast of this film is suited from top to bottom: Joan Bennett as Amy, Jean Park as Beth, Frances Dee as Meg, and Spring Byington as Marmee, with Paul Lukas as Professor Bhaer, Douglass Montgomery as Laurie, and Edna May Oliver threatening to bewitch every scene she is in as Aunt March.

Hepburn won the Cannes International Film Festival award as Best Actress of 1934, and it seems reasonable to suggest that her performance in “Petite Women” helped Hepburn score her first Academy Award for “Morning Glory,” which had arrive out the previous year (remarkable as Diane Keaton was helped by having done “Saving Mr. Goodbar” the same year as “Annie Hall” when she won her Oscar) . “Miniature Women” was nominated for Best Narrate that year, because the team tedious the camera of this RKO film was equally as strong. The film was produced by David O’Selznick and director George Cukor was nominated for an Oscar as well, although surprisingly none of the actors received nominations. The film’s one award went to Y. Mason and Victor Heerman, who most deservedly won for Best Screenplay Adaptation.

This is arguably Hepburn’s best performance in her first dozen films, although some dismiss it as being too stop to home for the actress. It would be decades before critics decided that when Katharine Hepburn played herself no one could equal her, and “Shrimp Women” certainly foreshadows her later successes. It would be nice if at least the sound on this 67 year obsolete film could be restored, but if you can find past it being in dusky and white this is the “Slight Women” to note your children.

Note: Bright that this video tape is not currently available by itself, but it is as piece of a three tape place of Hepburn films. Hmmmm.

One of the most unique westerns ever filmed, Duel at Diablo deals with a number of clicheish situations in a refreshing, appealing manner. More enthralling than engrossing, the intense emotion and delicately intertwined subplots are almost hypnotically effective in holding the viewer’s attention. James Garner, Sidney Poitier and Dennis Weaver headline an satisfactory cast. Fair locations and an eerie soundtrack add to the overall power of the production. This film is probably too violent for many young viewers, but will expose a most satisfying experience for western buffs who recall gritty realism to the more popular shlocky horse operas. Duel at Diablo will never be found in a listing of top westerns, but it belongs there. In fact, it holds its fill in any movie library, regardless of genre.

I adore a noble western, and Duel at Diablo certainly contained enough elements of the classic western movie to support me fervent throughout it’s 103 itsy-bitsy running time, but some flaws seemed a bit clear.

The movie centers on a dwelling to vow a cache of ammunition from one fort to another through a harsh and foreboding desert land. The troops are green and inexperienced, and the desert terrain is the least of their worries as a local Apache tribe has decided to mount a last stand against the injustices heaped upon them and attack the instruct and purchase the munitions in an misfortune to free themselves and their spirits from the terrible treatment and paltry reservation land given to them by the uncaring government.

James Garner plays Jess Remsburg, an experienced scout who has a personal interest in following the exclaim to their destination as he believes the murderer of his Native American wife is there. Sidney Poitier is also along for the trudge, as Toller, an ex-army man turned horse dealer that supplies the cavalry with raw mustangs. Turns out he won’t derive paid for his novel delivery of horses as they are not saddle broken and he must creep with the train and tame the horses along the intention. The other recognizable actor is Dennis Weaver, who plays Willard Grange, a merchant who must pick up a load of supplies to the fort, and wheedles his map to stamp along with the cavalry, despite protests from the lieutenant in charge, as the lieutenant thinks rush will be of the utmost importance, with the Apache tribe on the warpath and the lack of experience in his troops. Also, there is yet another keen subplot though-provoking Grange and his wife, Ellen, played by Bibi Andersson. Seems at some point prior to the events in the movie, she was kidnapped by the Apaches and escaped only to return to a disappointed husband and unfavorable townspeople as she has now been ’spoiled’ with her extended contact with the Apache tribe. She has a special interest in returning to the tribe, which is revealed later in the movie.

The director does a unbelievable job maintaining continuity between the various state threads, and conveying the sense of pains between the harsh environments and the disgruntled Native Americans on the Warpath. The fighting is done with a sense of realism and seems quite brutal at times, but never really goes over the top and there is very cramped glorification of the faded west, as seen in many other westerns. The various subplots do provide a nice sense of depth for the main characters, helping the audience produce a feeling of familiarity towards the characters, even the Native Americans. I never got a sense that the movie was portraying the Native Americans as terrible guys, and the cavalry as capable guys, but impartial people doing what they had to do based on either orders from marvelous officers, in the case of the cavalry, or the need for survival and a tired sense of being pushed around a regulated to less than hospitable lands by an uncaring government, in the case of the Native Americans.

The flaws of the movie, in my concept, are few, but somewhat noticeable. The biggest one was the music. The western get was tinged with a sort of bouncy beat that detracted seriously from what was being shown on the mask. It would, almost in a droll fashion, counteract the urgency and concern in specific scenes. Another snort I had, a subtler one, was the character Toller, played by Sidney Portier. He’s an superb actor, and I have no problems with his performance, but since this movie was probably spot in the early to mid 19th century, I found it really curious how accepting all the Caucasian characters were of having an African American so closely in the midst as I absorb the was a lot more racial intolerance at this time than the movie would have you fill. Obvious, there was some towards the Native Americans in the movie, but no one seemed to sight Toller was an African American, and the cavalry troops certainly didn’t seem to mind taking orders from him after their lieutenant was injured. On the flipside, it was refreshing to reflect that things could have been this plot aid then, but realistically, I doubt it. The total absence of any racial tensions between Toller and the Caucasian characters seemed to really stand out.

All in all advantageous, solid western movie, with some stunning violent scenes that portrays both sides of the conflict in a seemingly steady sense, allowing for empathy to effect for both sides, showing us the world is not sad and white, figuratively speaking. The recount is in wide cover format, and is crisp and sure showing many radiant desert landscapes between all the killing. The audio was quite suitable, also, sounding certain und unmuddled. There are subtitles available, but I didn’t need to employ them as I could hear all the dialog clearly. Throw in a trailer and that’s it for the special features, but, as always, I’d choose an favorable print and superior audio to gobs of useless features I’ll probably never eye.
